Jay Mail’s music is just like his namesake suggests; ‘money in the bank’ with a certified delivery.
After witnessing many tragedies in his hometown, High Point North Carolina, Jay started recording full songs at age 14 as a way to process the trauma. Taking note of the youngsters talents his uncle, Devon, urged him to test out his skills with MC’s in the local hip hop scene. Jay’s lyrical flow and confidence gained respect around the Triad and lead to co founding the group Xclusive Generals.
In 2008 the group dropped the singles ‘Can’t Leave You Alone’ ft. A. Wright, and ‘Watch My Zone’ ft. Roc-a-fella Records artist Freeway, to overwhelming reception. Later that year Xclusive Generals went on the General City Tour, performing to thousands in cities throughout the southeastern region.
The buzz caught the attention of local radio personality (WQMG 102 Jamz) and producer Showdown Beatz (Big Boi, T.I., 50 Cent, Gucci Mane). The 2 began working together on his first mixtape; ‘Street Education’ (2009), and continued to collaborate on more songs and projects including the 3 man group TDK, that produced the radio single ‘Mr. Xclusive’ featuring many of the Triad’s hottest spitters.
In 2015 Jay teamed with his cousin, producer/artist Caktuz to form the artist collective #AMASlife. The brand built their own studio, video team, did their own marketing & promotion, and produced the indie musical film ‘W A N D E R L U S T’. Seizing the wave of his exposure from the film debut, Jay released City Slick Grandson in 2018 produced A. Wright. With growing fan support and a recurring role as “Streets” in the Showdown produced network series 85 Central (Amazon Prime 2020) Jay Mail is determined to cement his place in the culture of hip hop.
